Lady Gaga spent the year of 2011 entertaining around the world and was well received wherever she went. For her efforts, members of the Associated Press voted her Entertainer of the Year.
Editors and broadcasters of the AP were asked to cast their vote for the person they felt influenced entertainment and culture the most in 2011.
Lady Gaga was flattered by the honor and humbly thanked the Associated Press for naming her the Entertainer of the Year and for supporting her career over the years.I was looking for more information and found it here. She also thanked her fans for all of their support.
There were 135 ballots cast and the competition was still, but Lady Gaga managed to edge out a win over Steve Jobs by just three votes. Other entertainers also got many votes including Adele, Charlie Sheen and Taylor Swift.
Previous winners include Taylor Swift, Tina Fey and Betty White.
Lady Gaga says fame is still hard for her to accept but she is adjusting to it and appreciates all she has accomplished.
When she released her album, The Fame Monster, in May of 2011 it sold over one million copies in the first week by October she has sold over 8 million copies, which appears to solidify that she is deserving of being named Entertainer of the Year.
